Summary
Functional unit:
yearly consumption of newspaper for a unique reader (see 2.10.1) and it equals 131 newspapers/year (312 newspapers/year and 2.4 unique readers/newspaper)
Goal and scope of the summary:
Aim : determine what device used to read newspaper is better between printed newspapers, web-based newspapers and e-readers.
The results showed that the ranking from an environmental point of view was in general that tablet e-paper
and the web based newspaper, with a shorter reading time (10 minutes per day), was giving rise to a lower environmental impact than the printed version.

It should be noted that with a reading time of 30 minutes per day the environmental impact of the web-based newspaper was often in the same range as the printed newspaper environmental impact, sometimes higher sometimes lower.

The results are obvious,

The results are obvious, online newspapers are more eco-friendly but from an marketing point of view I find it hard to believe they are just as efficient as the printed newspapers... There's still a tremendous number of people that prefer prints and as long as we have this situation the printing industry will be here too. There's some interesting info about this aspect on this color brochure printing, the printing industry is also making efforts to reduce the impact on the environment.
